From Beans to Cup: Javanese Coffee Workshop
Indonesia is the world's fourth-largest coffee producer, yet most travellers only meet coffee at the very end of its journey. This workshop reverses the order.
You start with green beans: sorting them, roasting them yourself in a clay pan over a wood fire, grinding them, then brewing them the simplest Javanese way. Throughout, our host explains how highland Java coffee differs from other Indonesian origins.
You go home with the coffee you roasted yourself.

Hand roasting
Roast your own batch in a clay pan over a wood fire, until the colour and aroma turn.
Grind and brew
Grind your roast, then brew it the simplest Javanese way and taste the result.
